Why is Louisiana so dangerous for bicyclists?

There are many reasons why you might ride a bike in Louisiana. You may find it to be good exercise or a non-polluting form of transportation. You may just think it is fun. Whatever your reasons, however, it is nevertheless true that you take a risk in riding your bicycle on Louisiana roads. The Advocate cites data in a report from last year indicating that the statewide rate of deaths from bicycle accidents is the second-highest in the nation. Only Florida saw more bicycle fatalities, according to the study. 

Louisiana crash injures officers participating in motorcade

When a president ventures outside the White House, an extensive motorcade comprising 40 to 50 vehicles usually goes along. Some of these are armored vehicles for which the Secret Service is responsible. Other vehicles belong to local law enforcement, officers of which usually head up the procession for purposes of traffic control. When the current president of the United States made a recent visit to Louisiana, a motorcade escorted him to an export facility for a tour from the airport where he arrived. 

Louisiana car crash results in 6 injuries, 2 deaths

Authorities have not revealed the results of testing to determine whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in a fatal roadway accident in New Orleans that occurred as Mardi Gras celebrations were underway. The accident killed two bicyclists and injured six other people.
